Hamburg, Germany, 19 August 2016 – The Bijou Brigitte Group reported sales of EUR 150.9 million in the first half of 2016, up 1.1% on the previous year (previous year: EUR 149.2 million). As of 30 June 2016, the store network comprised 1,090 concessions (31 December 2015: 1,082). Group earnings before income taxes in the first half of 2016 amounted to EUR 8.2 million (previous year: EUR 11.5 million; -28.8%). Group earnings after income taxes fell to EUR 4.5 million (previous year: EUR 7.4 million).

Over comparable areas, Group sales declined slightly year-on-year in the first six months of the 2016 financial year. The rise in personnel costs and cost of materials had a particularly strong impact on pre-tax earnings.

Taking into consideration the course of business to date, the Group confirms its current earnings forecast: the Group is anticipating earnings before tax at the lower end of the guidance range of between EUR 30 and 35 million for the 2016 financial year.

The full half-year financial report of Bijou Brigitte modische Accessoires AG will be published at the end of August 2016.
